Hau Maranga

Overview

This training is fully funded by Te Whatu Ora

Hau Maranga is a two day wānanga, culturally designed to enrich the knowledge, skills and confidence of kaiāwhina and practitioners working in the health and wellbeing sector. It is also open to those currently practicing rongoā Māori, and those interested in pursuing these pathways

This wānanga is open to all - regardless of ethnicity, age, gender and ability.

Focus & Outcomes

Deeply rooted in Te Ao Māori and embedded in tikanga Māori, this wānanga draws on Māori knowledge systems, diverse practices, and spiritual dimensions to support growth in mātauranga, hauora, wairuatanga, whakapapa, and practitioner capability.

Participants are supported to strengthen cultural competency, connection, and tino rangatiratanga when working in diverse environments, ultimately contributing to improved health and wellbeing outcomes for all.

Key outcomes:

  • Increasing the cultural competency and diversity of these practitioners to empower and support them to be of service within our community.
  • Improving health and wellbeing outcomes for all people.
  • Hau Maranga speaks to raising, growing, and expanding the knowledge, skills and tino-rangatiratanga of those working within the health and disability sector.
  • Ensuring a mana enhanced  and resilient domestic workforce that is sustained and grown.

Kaiāwhina are our taonga.

This wānanga will help to nurture and grow these taonga and the natural skillset of our workforce, while sharing tools and knowledge to increase a sense of belonging and identity, connection and competency working in diverse environments.

Upcoming Dates

Hau Maranga is fully booked until Matariki, however we will have more dates coming out later in the year.
